dive team

The Craighead County Sheriff’s Department has had a Dive Team since 2001. The team continues to evolve to incorporate new training and technology such as the underwater communication devices acquired recently. They are responsible for rescue and recovery attempts, assisting in recovery of evidence and property from waterways, swampy areas, and other inaccessible areas. The Dive Team is trained in a wide variety of areas. All of the divers are required to maintain their certifications and keep their training current. Dive training is conducted

throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions.

Deputy Philip Wheaton of the Craighead Country Sheriff's Department leads the Dive Team. The Dive Team is made up of three Divers and one Boat Communications Operator.
