mounted patrol

The Craighead County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol is a uniformed unit made up of regular and special deputies who volunteer their time, their horses, and their equipment for the benefit of the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Craighead County. The unit was formed over 15 years ago and consists of 40 riders. They perform such duties as security at the District Fair and search and rescue in the rural areas of the county. Although the unit can be seen at parades, rodeos, and other functions they have several fund raisers where the money is used to put on “The Miracle Rodeo” (a play day for children and adults with special needs) and donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis. Perspective members must   display their horsemanship and pass a background investigation.

For information about joining the Mounted Patrol, call the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office at 870-933-4551
