Last month, a team of Craighead County Deputies headed to Lake City to demonstrate to approximately 150 Riverside High School juniors and seniors the dangers of drinking and driving. Using golf carts and a course lined with traffic cones, the students donned specialized goggles designed to impair their perception, much like alcohol does. The students are asked to perform a series of seemingly menial tasks, such as touch the ignition switch, or turn and stop. The goggles were very disorienting, and are a great instrument in the Craighead County Sheriff's Office instruction arsenal.
